Hey, I'm Alex!
I am a Themed Experience Professional focused in Design and Special Effects. I excel at developing new immersive experiences from the ground up: prototyping effects, systems, and environments that push what a space can make a guest feel, and refining them until the idea becomes something real.
My Story
Now, a little about my background. I was born in Waterloo, Canada, where I spent my childhood. From an early age, I developed a strong passion for design and the arts. Traveling the world throughout my life has given me the opportunity to experience diverse cultures firsthand, allowing me to understand how people engage with the stories and environments that designers create.

I began my undergraduate studies at the University of Waterloo in the Global Business and Digital Arts program, where I gained extensive knowledge in business management, entrepreneurship, and international business. To complete my Bachelor's degree, I transferred to the University of Central Florida, where I studied Graphic Design in Emerging Media. This transition allowed me to explore how visual storytelling and technology can merge to create impactful experiences.

Now, I am furthering my expertise in themed entertainment by pursuing a Master of Fine Arts in Themed Experience at UCF. This program has deepened my understanding of immersive storytelling, environmental design, and guest engagement: key elements that drive the themed entertainment industry.

What has shaped me just as much as formal education is a lifelong habit of building things for the sake of understanding them. Model railroading taught me how lighting, scale, and environmental detail work together to sell a world at a glance. Keeping saltwater aquariums trained my eye for the kind of layered, living complexity that makes an environment feel genuinely inhabited rather than dressed. Working on cars gave me an intuition for systems, how mechanical and aesthetic decisions interact, and how small refinements compound into something that performs the way it was imagined. These are not separate from my professional work. They are the foundation of how I prototype, problem-solve, and think about what a guest actually experiences when they step into a space.

Throughout my academic and professional journey, I have worked on projects that push the boundaries of design, large-scale experiences, interactive attractions, and themed environments. From developing immersive storytelling-driven attractions to designing functional yet engaging experiences for niche audiences, my focus remains on crafting meaningful interactions between people and the worlds they step into. Collaborating with teams and industry professionals has been essential in bringing these ideas to life, reinforcing my passion for innovative themed experiences.
